A published report on Monday, citing the upstream supply chain, says
that Apple is going to release a large screened tablet next October. The
slate is rumored to have a screen of 12.9 inches and matches other rumors about a 12.9 inch iPad. According to the report, Apple's large tablet will be aimed at the education market.
The report adds that Quanta Computer will be building the slate, and
that Apple decided to go with a 12.9 inch screen after testing that size
along with a 13.3 inch panel.
Besides offering a large screened tablet, Apple is said to be working on a large-sized version of the Apple iPhone. The device is expected to be launched in May of 2014 and will be powered by a TSMC processor produced using the 20nm process. Last week, we passed along a report that claimed Apple had locked up TSMC to be the main supplier of its next A-series processor for the Apple iPhone.
This chip also might find its way into the 12.9 inch tablet, which speculation has replacing the MacBook Air in Apple's lineup.
