Nokia’s WP8.1 devices to embrace 3D Touch gesture support

While the Windows Phone fans are anticipating the release of the 6-inch flagship, Lumia 1520, the tech world is abuzz with details on the company’s Windows Phone 8.1 plans. Earlier this week, popular leakster @evleaks revealed on Twitter that the first Windows Phone Blue aka Windows Phone 8.1 handsets will be codenamed Nokia Goldfinger and Nokia Moneypenny.
Now, a TheVerge report tips that Goldfinger will be the flagship model and is likely to sport a new interactive feature dubbed 3D Touch. The report suggests that sources familiar with Nokia’s future plans have revealed that the Goldfinger will incorporate the 3D Touch technology, which makes use of the hardware sensors to sense off-the-glass interactions.
It is foreseen that with this technology, Lumia owners can scroll and flip to navigate without touching the screen at all. Also, to interact with the Goldfinger, all that the users will have to do is make hand gestures above and at the sides of the device.
Nokia had earlier rolled out the Glance feature via the Amber update which also features similar interaction but with the new Windows Phone 8.1 devices, this interactive functionality will be taken a step further.
Currently, Microsoft is prepping the Windows Phone 8.1 update and there are speculations that the software giant will reveal its plans and a part of these new aspects at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2014 tech in Barcelona. Moreover, in a recent report, Nokia is also tipped to announce two flagship models – Lumia 1820 phone and Lumia 2020 tablet at the MWC 2014 in February.
With lot of exciting devices lined up for next year, Nokia fans have all the reason to rejoice!!
Stay tuned to KYMI for more updates on the upcoming Nokia phones.
